“To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.” Emily Dickinson
I don’t know about you but I do think life is pretty startling right now and it’s hard to believe all the things I now do in a day that weren’t necessary BT (before Trump.) There have been days lately, when my patience feels non existent – when I want to throw up my hands, close my eyes, move to Canada, yell or shake someone because, I really and truly can not wrap my mind around what is happening in this beautiful, troublesome country of ours. And then, I exercise, spend time in my garden, cook a great meal, talk with friends, listen to music or – come across a great quote which is what happened yesterday. Though yesterday, it took a full day in the garden and the quote to put my mind and heart at rest.
We have a long, long way to go.
So let us hasten along the road –
the roads of human tenderness and generosity.
Groping, we may find
one another’s hands in the dark. – Emily Greene Balch
